Fix and stabilize
Fix what's actually broken, without rebuilding everything
A bug is affecting customers, deployments are still done by hand and keep going wrong, the database is so slow that staff sit and wait. I take on clearly scoped work, fix it in small steps with a way back for every change, and hand over documentation so others can run it too.
Talk about the fix- You work directly with the engineer, no middleman.
- Scope, price and timeline agreed in writing before any work.
- NDA available if you need one.
A good fit when
- There's a specific bug in production, or a workflow that has stopped working.
- Deployments are still done by hand on a VPS and every update is a gamble.
- SSL, domains, Nginx or Cloudflare are set up messily and break now and then.
- The database is slow, or needs moving between MySQL and PostgreSQL without long downtime.
- An old PHP system or CRM needs fixing and an upgrade path.
Typical work
- Fix bugs happening on the live system, or a process that has stopped working.
- Clean up the server and deployment: Docker Compose, Nginx, Cloudflare, SSL, CI/CD, backups with a tested restore.
- Slow or moving databases: query tuning, adding indexes without downtime, moving between MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Older PHP systems or CRMs (such as SuiteCRM): bug fixes, an upgrade plan, documentation.
- A small integration or feature with clear acceptance criteria.
Good to know
- If the system has no documentation or I haven't worked on it before, I'll suggest a Health Check before giving a fixed quote.
How it works
4 steps, each one known in advance
- 01
Describe the problem
You tell me about the bug or the job. If the system has no documentation, I'll suggest a Health Check first so the quote is right.
- 02
Scope in writing
What gets done, how it's accepted, how long it takes, the price and the risks.
- 03
Fix in small steps
Every change is tested before it goes live, always with a plan to roll back.
- 04
Handover
Documentation of what changed, how to deploy, how to restore backups, and what to do next.

FAQ
Common questions
Do you give fixed quotes?
Yes, once the scope is clear. For a system I haven't worked on and that has no documentation, I'll suggest a Health Check first, because a fixed quote without understanding the system is usually wrong.
Does fixing it mean downtime?
I prefer approaches with no downtime, or a short window at a time you choose. Anything needing longer is flagged in the scope beforehand.
What if the fix causes another problem?
Every change is tested first and can be rolled back. How issues after handover are handled is written into the scope.
Do we sign a contract?
Yes. Before any work starts, the scope, cost, timeline and how the work is signed off are put in writing. I'm happy to sign an NDA as well if you need one.
How do you keep code and data safe?
I only ask for the access the job needs and give it back at handover. How data is handled and an NDA are agreed before we start. Please don't send passwords or API keys through the form on this page.
