FixesAutomationMaintenance

Don't rush to replace your system. Fix what's actually broken.

Slow website, servers that keep going down, a previous vendor who stopped answering, staff still typing data in by hand. I'm a software engineer. I find the cause, fix it and keep the system running. You work with me directly, with no account managers in between.

I usually start with a 2–4 day review of your system and a written report. You decide whether to go further after you've read it.

Sound familiar?

The software still runs, but nobody wants to touch it?

  1. Fixing one small thing breaks something else.
  2. The original developer is gone and nobody understands the code.
  3. The server is slow and goes down now and then. SSL expires without anyone noticing. There are backups, but nobody has tried restoring one.
  4. Staff spend hours typing in invoices and documents and building reports by hand.
  5. Data is spread across the website, Excel, a CRM and the accounting software, and none of it matches.

Most of the time you don't need to start over. The first job is finding where things are stuck.

Software Health Check

A review of where your system stands

For a system you're not sure about. Each review covers one application and the server it runs on.

Indicative price
US$190–310
Timeline
2–4 working days from when I get access

You get a short written report covering

  • Current risks and anything that needs urgent attention.
  • Code and libraries: what's outdated, what has known vulnerabilities, which parts are fragile.
  • Server, deployment, SSL, domain and backups, including whether a backup has ever been restored.
  • Database: slow queries, missing indexes, risky table design (if I'm given access).
  • A list of what to do, in 3 groups: fix now, plan, leave it.
  • Rough time and cost estimates for the next steps.
Fix nowPlanLeave it
  • If you continue with me, the review fee is credited toward the repair work.
  • Doesn't include penetration testing, a formal security audit or compliance certification.

Fix and stabilize

Rescue Sprint

When you know where the problem is and need someone to sort it out.

  • Fix bugs happening on the live system, or a process that has stopped working.
  • Clean up the server and deployment: Docker Compose, Nginx, Cloudflare, SSL, CI/CD, backups with a tested restore.
  • Slow or moving databases: query tuning, adding indexes without downtime, moving between MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Older PHP systems or CRMs (such as SuiteCRM): bug fixes, an upgrade plan, documentation.
  • A small integration or feature with clear acceptance criteria.
Indicative price
from US$690
Timeline
Usually 1–2 weeks once scope is agreed
  • If the system has no documentation or I haven't worked on it before, I'll suggest a Health Check before giving a fixed quote.

Document and workflow automation

Workflow Automation

Get data from invoices, orders and forms into the software you already use without retyping it. Always starts as a small trial project.

  • Read invoices, orders and forms (PDF or scanned), check them, send anything uncertain to a person, then push the data into Excel, accounting software or a CRM.
  • Keep data in sync between your website, CRM and internal systems through their APIs.
  • Scheduled reports and alerts. When something fails, you can see where.
Indicative price
US$1,150–3,070 for a trial project
Timeline
2–6 weeks, depending on how many systems are involved
  • The trial has a fixed scope. Before starting we write down how things work today (how long it takes, how many errors) so we can compare afterwards. Going further is quoted separately.
  • Software can't read Vietnamese documents with 100% accuracy, especially blurry photos. That's why a person always checks the results.

Monthly maintenance

Managed Engineering

When the system is live and you want an engineer who knows it to keep it maintained.

  • Library and framework updates, bug fixes and small improvements within the plan's hours.
  • Monitoring, and handling incidents during the agreed support hours.
  • Backup checks and regular test restores.
  • Help with releases, a monthly status report, and keeping the documentation current.
Indicative price
from US$380/month (about 8 hours included)
Timeline
Monthly. Extra hours at the agreed rate.
  • Support hours, response times, incident levels and what isn't covered are all written into the contract. This isn't 24/7 support.

For agencies

Backend work for agencies

You keep the client and build the front end. I handle the backend, API integrations, servers and deployment under your name. Priced per project or per month.

Talk about working together

Prices and timelines above are indicative. USD prices are converted from Vietnamese dong at about 26,100 VND per US dollar (October 2026). The written quote states the final amount and currency once we've agreed the scope.

How I work

4 steps, agreed in writing before work starts

I don't go straight from one phone call to a big contract. Before any work starts, you know what will be done, when it will be finished, and how we roll back if something goes wrong.

  1. 1

    Understand the problem

How it's affecting the business, what the system looks like today, and any limits on time or budget.

  2. 2

    Review and agree the scope

What gets done, what gets delivered, how we sign it off, the risks, the cost and the timeline. All in writing.

  3. 3

    Deliver in small steps

Every change is checked before it goes live, and there's always a way back to the previous version.

  4. 4

    Hand over

Notes on what changed, what I'd do next, and a maintenance plan if you want one.

Access and security

  • I only ask for the access the job actually needs.
  • Passwords and keys go through a secure channel, never through the form.
  • When the work is handed over, I give access back or you change the passwords.
  • Happy to sign an NDA if you need one.

About me

You work with me directly

For more than 15 years I've built and run systems at major technology platforms in Vietnam. At GocFix, the person you talk to is the one reading the code, configuring the servers and answering for the result.

Principles

5 things I stick to on every project

If you ever see me doing otherwise, tell me.

Check first, then fix

I only quote for a fix once I understand the problem. Diagnosing over the phone usually means fixing the wrong thing.

Keep what already works

Replace only what needs replacing. Starting over costs money and time, and tends to bring new bugs.

One person is responsible

You talk to the person doing the work. If the project needs another pair of hands, I'll tell you first and only bring someone in if you agree.

It still runs after handover

Deployment, backups, logs, a way to roll back and documentation are part of the job, not extras.

AI only when it's worth it

Most automation doesn't need AI. When I do use it, a person always checks the results wherever a mistake would be costly.

Examples

Before and after the fix

Illustrative examples, not specific client projects

Fragile server, manual deploys

Server
Before
The app runs on a VPS, every update is done by hand, and SSL has expired a few times.
After
Moved to Docker Compose, SSL renews itself, backups run automatically and a restore has been tested, with notes so someone else can deploy.

The report page takes forever

Database
Before
Staff wait every time they open a report.
After
Found the slow queries, added indexes without taking the system down, and kept an eye on it afterwards.

Invoices typed in by hand

Automation
Before
The accountant retypes every PDF invoice into the software.
After
The system reads the invoice, a person checks anything it's unsure of, and the data goes straight into the software.

The previous developer left

Legacy
Before
Nobody understands the system and everyone is afraid to touch it.
After
A Health Check, the biggest risks fixed first, and documentation so the system no longer depends on one person.

Scope

What I don't take on

If what you need falls outside what I do, I'll say so at the start so you don't lose time.

  • New website design or brand identity.
  • Mobile apps.
  • Full ERP implementations.
  • 24/7 or unlimited support.
  • Penetration testing or security certification.

FAQ

Common questions

Will you work on a system someone else built?

Yes. I usually do a Health Check first to understand the system, then quote for the fix.

Is GocFix a company or one person?

GocFix is my own practice, and I'm the only engineer. You work with me from start to finish. If a project needs more people, I'll tell you first and only bring someone in if you agree.

Do I have to use AI?

No. I go for whatever is simplest, stable and cheapest to run. AI only comes in when the benefit is clear.

How long does it take?

A Health Check usually takes 2–4 working days, a fix-and-stabilize sprint 1–2 weeks, and an automation trial 2–6 weeks. The exact timeline depends on the work and when I get access, and is written into the scope before we start.

How is the price worked out?

By scope, difficulty and risk. Prices on this page are indicative. The actual quote always comes in writing. If you go ahead after a Health Check, its fee is credited toward the repair work.

Do we sign a contract?

Yes. Before any work starts, the scope, cost, timeline and how the work is signed off are put in writing. I'm happy to sign an NDA as well if you need one.

Is there support after handover?

Yes, through a monthly maintenance plan billed by the hour. Response times and what's covered are spelled out in the contract.

How many projects do you take each month?

Not many. I work alone and want to do each one properly. If I'm booked up, I'll tell you when I can start.

How do you keep code and data safe?

I only ask for the access the job needs and give it back at handover. How data is handled and an NDA are agreed before we start. Please don't send passwords or API keys through the form on this page.
